95 c5, replaced battery and everything came on except heater fan motor, did not wait until everything loaded, so unhooked battery, waited 30 sec, hooked back up and gave the computers time to reload. now everything is working. But while backing out of garage I get the message, pull key, wait 10 sec. I ignored it and car stopped running so pulled key and waited 10 sec. fired right up and no more problems. What happened????
12 years on the forum and you’re not familiar with the column lock issue? Did you not get a column lock notice in addition to the pull key?
Others may have more information, but to my knowledge (and experience) the pull key notices are related to the aforementioned poorly engineered column lock. On my ‘99 I started getting the pull key. Doing so, waiting 10 seconds or so, and starting over worked for a bit, but it got progressively worse until I installed the LMC-5 column lock eliminator.
You can theoretically move the car with the issue ongoing, but only at 2 mph. Good luck with that. I couldn’t get up the driveway.
no column lock message, I had this kind of problem when I first got the car and it had to do with unlocking the gear shifter from park, so I disconnected the solenoid and no more problems.
Not long ago I kept getting this message even though I had the LMC-5 installed. Ended up being a bad relay in the BCM. When you turn the key to the "on" position you should hear a series of clicks from the BCM. Might have to remove the cover over it so it's more audible.
Ah, the Pull key wait ten seconds message, very puzzling problem sometimes. My car is afflicted with this every year when the temperatures start dropping, most times the message appears when powering on the car, sometimes after it has started, sometimes no message and the car will stall. In my case I believe it to be a marginal electrical connection somewhere in that circuit, annoying but I simply follow the instructions.
