By the way it is a 98 coupe with a asix speed.
I heard that it used to be under the door to center console.
Where can we find out what these codes mean. A couple I can understand, but I need a decoder ring for the rest :D
Very curious
A lot of them are standard factory "build codes," not options. But all of the option codes will be listed in with the others. For example, option code G92 will be listed on an A4 with that option, but there is also a code for the standard axle.
C4's had the parts ID tag under the center console door. C5's switched location to the left storage-well cover (97-99, I think) and then to the glove box (2000+).
They may not translate all the codes on the glove box or rear cover. Some of those codes relate to what kind of wax protection was put on your car before it was shipped and other such nebulous stuff. But they should get the options available in a brochure, etc.
If you have a good relationship with your dealership, call them up with your VIN, and they can to to a GM web site and get your 'Build Sheet' which will list all of the options along with a description of each.
