Default C5 Drivers door latch

I have a C5 2002 Z06. I am the second owner owner. It has a bit over 10,000 miles on it. I was getting a serious battery drain that the shop I use traced to the drivers side door latch was not registering the door closed unless it was really slammed. I am looking for the door latch part number 10346748. Unfortunately that part is no longer available. I have searched eBay so far with no success. Anybody out there have any ideas on how to get a replacement? Terry

Sometimes the best approach is to be less specific in your search criteria. I haven’t looked for whether the FRC/Z06 is different than the coupe, but I see a full assembly on EBay for $100 — if you’ve seen yours maybe you can tell whether it’s a match. Mother GM seemed to use the same part whenever possible:

I also see CorvetteRecycling has a part number match for $150. I’d suggest reaching out to C5diag as to whether he has some troubleshooting advice to ensure it’s the latch before sending out the dough.

Drivers side are hard to find.

How do you know that the latch is bad? Are you getting a "DOOR AJAR" message and a chime when you start driving if you close the door normally?

Same thing I was thinking, you'd see that pop up on the Dash.

2002 with 10k miles that's a crime. Drive that car.

I would check with Vettenuts and C&S Corvettes.

May be just gunked up with old hardened grease. Heat the latch with a hair dryer and spray it with penetrating oil,
and repeat several times. May loosen up and work correctly.

Default C5 Door Latch

I have one on the way from Corvette Recycling. My mechanic was able to trace battery drain to the latch thinking the door was not closed unless you literally slam the door shut. Talking to Corvette recycling they said the sell a lot driver side door latches. It’s interesting that you can purchase a new passenger side door latches but not the drivers side door.

I found a used one on ebay a few months back for $27 that works fine. Out of curiosity I bought a real cheap new door latch for a GMC and compared it to the one I replaced and it had the same connectors and was physically the same. I never tried it in the car but it may be worth a try, it only cost me $21 total, the part number was 15053681.
