is there a way to bench test a EBCM on a 99 coupe with auto before you put it in a car to make sure it works before you install it?
No, unless you have the specific equipment to simulate the required inputs i.e. wheel speed, brake pressure, etc. The initialization sequence does not start until you are going 4mph.
I suppose you could plug it in to make sure it commuicates serial buss.....that would only required key to ON, and check your codes in the DIC.
I bought some years ago a Kent More J39700 breakoutbox set .
With this box and it's cabling I can test all electronic signal both with a scanner like Tech2 or newer with a module not mounted in the car
I bought a used M module from Ebay last year and checked the signals/DTC as soon as I received it shown in the video.
Also useful when verifing signals going to/from the EBCTM using the measuring points in the breakoutbox without burning fingers iin a hot engineroom .
