Default C5 t56 no reverse.

I have a manual swapped c5. To activate reverse there is a switch wired to the reverse lockout solenoid. You flip the switch and put it in where 5th would be and that it reverse. Recently, when I flip the switch it feels like I’m fighting a brick wall trying to put it in reverse and it won’t go in. All the other gears are fine. Is this a normal fault for the reverse lockout solenoid going out? Or does the trans need to come out?

Since this was cobbled together, have you check for 12v and ground at the solenoid? ( I assume the switch provides the ground in place of the PCM).

How exactly do you have the solenoid wired? With the switch closed [on] and the solenoid connected, do you have battery voltage at the solenoid positive pin B and near zero volts at solenoid negative pin A? What ground is the solenoid pin A connected to?

If the solenoid isn't powered yes it's not insignificant to push through it. Been pushing through it since 2013 in my 4th gen Camaro, a road race car. PO gutted the wiring and I've been too lazy to replace that bit.
