Steering lock and charging system
Well I am very new to this forum. I have learned a thing or 2 though. I had to typical steering lock and charging system scroll at the bottom of the dash. Since I am also new to this car I read that the answer may be as simple as a new AC Delco factory new alternator. I looked and eventually found one. I installed it today and voila! All the electrical gremlins vanished. I don't know how many brand new alternators there are for this particular application, but it can't be very many. I got lucky. Just FYI I am a retired tech and shop owner in the bay area (now residing in the Reno NV area) I appreciate all the tech info on this site, thanks.

Check you battery with a tester with the car off, you should have minimum of 12.5V and also check the CCA and other items and compare it to the new battery specs. Should be clowe to thathose specs
