Default P0492 code, check engine light

Has anyone used this procedure or updated it, to re-route the secondary smog check valve?

I see no reason why it wouldn’t work but that’s as far as I can say on the operation as I have never done it. I have just gone through this not because of a code but because I wanted to rid the engine compartment of all the AIR system. I was removing my intake manifold anyway because of a dead oil pressure sensor and I wanted to relocate it and at the same time do a reasonable cleanup of the area and install new gaskets ect. The only draw back I can see is that this detracts spark plug access which is tight in the first place. Of course going my route will mean having to access the PCM with tuning hardware to turn off the AIR so I will not get any codes from completely removing the system.

Where the author mentions the hoses being bolted to the back of the drivers head is accurate. Even with the intake manifold removed it was a pain to access and remove, but I wanted all that stuff gone.

A competent mechanic should be able to replace that check valve in 1.5 hours, without the abomination. In any case, make sure you have confirm that is the problem before you just go changing parts.
