Wondering if this has happened to anyone else with a 2000 Coupe. So far it's happened twice, and then my car has been off the road for almost a year. The situation: Driving on surface streets maybe 35-40 mph suddenly the lever above that latches the targa top in place pops (with a loud bang!) If this has happened to anyone else, please share if you have knowledge of what causes this and how you prevent it. (BTW, the top has been taken off the car only once and I'm the original owner.) Much appreciated if the "knowledge hive" can educate me on this one. Thanks in advance Lee
Sounds like its not fully snapped closed.
Maybe it has too much tension on it preventing it from closing all the way.
You can adjust that by screwing the hook in or out as needed.
The one at the back center? That requires you to push the release button in for the lever to be released so I'd say something is wrong with your latch to be opening on its own.
