Clunk in rear end
So far, the only thing I’ve tried is loosening the axle nuts, lubricating them, and re‑torquing them. I did buy a cheaper non‑OEM rear left axle, but it looked slightly smaller, so I’m wondering if I should replace it with a proper OEM one.
I can also replicate the clunk by pushing on the car while it’s parked, and I do notice a little bit of play. Has anyone run into this before or have ideas on what to check?

MANY, myself included, have had this problem and I am almost positive the factory part is no longer made.
Here is a link for a TSB talking about a fix for 2004 C5s.
