Really all i was trying to do is get a feel for whats been done most frequently with success in the platform. Most stick with a 60 it seems which doesn't surprise me.

RPM can probably build them to handle 700-900 horsepower. You would have to call them and see what they recommend depending on your desired horsepower level.

Sure, and it would an easy question to answer if the average c5 was at 1000RWHP. With the exception of specialty shops, no one is building 1200 RWHP frequently.

To be clear, 1,200whp is probably around 1,400 crank hp. I doubt very seriously if anyone can build the 4L60E to handle that kind of power. As someone, I think Lucky, stated earlier, you'll be looking for something different than the 4L60E. If keeping the IRS, you'll need some expensive parts to make it live, and you'll have to cut the floor. If you're going that far, I'd look into the 8 speed auto, maybe even the 10R 10 speed. Research is your friend. You'll need to contact people who've been there-done that. Also, to be clear, $10,000 will merely be a partial payment...

I realize it’s a limited sample. Just doing my best to see what works for people. I don’t really have personal knowledge of who has so much power out here.

Unfortunately there are no 10-speed transaxles out there. Now, there are ZF8 transaxles but, dimensionally, I'm not sure if it'll fit back there. For what it's worth, the 8L90 does fit in the C5 but, I posed a question to them about fitting the exhaust through the traditional routes or even a modified route--that was something they weren't actively working on. So, while these swaps are possible, sometimes it's worth asking if the swap will have any quirks. To that end, I suspect that a C5 with an 8L90 would make for one hell of a performer than the typical transmission options for this car. I, for one, have zero love for TH400's but, I get why folks like their simplicity. A properly built/setup 8L90 will be plenty capable at 1000-1200whp and will be a lot nicer to drive in general.
