Default Starter Recommendations

I'm in the market for a new starter. Does any one have recommendations. I'm looking at AC Delco Gold (336-1922A). So far, I have only found those rebuilt. I'm also looking at the Power Master at Summit.

Any input appreciated.

TIA

AJ

I clicked on it and said it doesn’t fit 2004 Corvette ( my friend’s Corvette I’ve been working on) so switched it back to 1999 Corvette and says it fits.

Looked up the OP’s car year in his profile and added 2002 Corvette and it says it doesn’t fit.

Curious why this starter doesn’t fit later C5, or maybe Amazon is wrong?

For any LS engine I recommend a stock used starter from the junkyard over anything else generally around stock compression for 250,000 miles

I'm not even sure how yours failed. Got hot? dropped it? Shorted it? Didn't keep it clean? I've never had a starter issue on an LS engine.

Are you sure its the starter? How many times the engine failed to crank only to change the starter and have it still crank poorly only to find it was the ground cable rotten or forgot to re-attach it properly or the battery was loose or the starter relay fried(small wire gauge + time) or ignition switch contacts failing.... something like that ... so many ways to simulate bad starter

Not sure about differences between years ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I put in my information for my 2000 and this is the starter that it told me to get. I indeed bought the one in the link and it has been fine for my car.

But there may be differences between the model years so don't buy the one I recommended if Amazon says it won't fit your car

I had just assumed starters were the same for all C5 Corvettes.

Just looked it up and looks like early C5 had long and short bolts.

Later models used 2 long bolts.

Guessing either starter could be used on all years of C5 with the correct length bolts.
