Default Rack removal through drivers side?

Pulling my steering rack for a rebuild and fixing the magnasteer leak. Unfortunately with how my garage is set up pulling it out the passenger side is an impossibility. If I lower the cradle enough can it be fenagled out the drivers side? Also, do I need to unbolt the engine from the cradle or can the whole thing drop to clear the frame?

Thanks all!

Yes, you can pull it from the driver's side. I've done it a couple of times :-) You don't need to unbolt the engine mounts. Loosen the 4 cradle nuts as low as you can. It will drop the cradle about a half inch and will give you enough room to wiggle the rack out. It's a tight fit, but it will make it.

Isn't the typical way to come out the driver's side?

@Vox Machina I recall a while back you were thinking to DIY rebuild the rack and had expressed interest in borrowing my 3D-printed tools. Is that still the case?

FWIW I don't have A/C in my track Z06 so I was able to remove the rad and take it out the front.

When it goes back in, a ratchet strap works well to draw it back into place on the mounts. Good time for fresh delrin mounts or the after dark brace if you're on the track.

I was planning on doing the bushing. Does it matter delrin or aluminum since DRM offers both?

I don't yet have experience with it on a running car. I believe there were some race classes for which the workaround was to use delrin vs aluminum. The tangible difference one to the other is not known to me. I wager from the steering wheel we wouldn't know.

late to the post, sending mine to get rebuilt this week. i took off inner & outter tie rods, was able to pull the rack out the bottom of the car without dropping the sub frame. fwiw i went with the drm aluminum bushing, i know the tolerances are super tight and will probably have to sand down both sides little by little.

There is also the after dark brace which supies an aluminum piece to go with it as well for anyone planning to track the car with large sticky front tires. This helps prevent the narrow tabs on the passenger front from breaking free of the rack.
