Go look up the ATI pin kit. It puts a 1/8” dowel into the side of the crank hub. You can even line it up with the existing key for the timing sprocket.
I’ve done all my LS this way.
and I use the Powerbond SFI balancers with 25% UD.
To say the keyway in the balancer upsets the engine balance is a load of crap.
The pin kits that drill into the balancer and crank from the end work fine. But I dare you to get that thing back into the correct location for the pin if you ever have to remove and reinstall it.
