Default Water Pump Removal Procedures ???

I have removed all hoses and the six bolts. I have used a rubber mallet on it. It does not want to seperate from the block. How do I achieve this beginning step in the H/C swap procedures? For age reference: 98 car with 22,500 miles

Any ideas anyone?

Hit it harder! Make sure you removed the correct 6 bolts and if you did, hit it harder or even try and lightly pry between the timing cover and the water pump if you can.

I believe 1998 still had the composite gaskets instead of the metal o-ring gaskets. They get stuck pretty good sometimes.

Good Luck,
