TMOD shifter - installation questions
Hey folks,
I recently got a TMOD shifter for my C5Z. Also got a used shifter and box to scavenge the box shaft and lower boot / tunnel seal. I now have all the parts I need, but there are a couple of things I'm looking for info on:
1. Is the lower boot / seal supposed to slide over the shifter base? I can't imagine it's possible given the boot opening diameter is the same or slightly smaller than the shifter base diameter. This install video just shows the boot bulging on top at the end, but that just seems wrong:
2. I notice the TMOD box (like the Tick) doesn't have the "fin" underneath that would rest in the slot on the torque tube. It looks like the point of that piece is to give the box support on the left side, so you don't lever against the bolts going into 1st or 2nd. Anyone transferred the fin from a stock box? Any issues running without it? It looks like the box is too short for the fin to drop into the slot even if transferred.
