Fuel tank removal (2001 C5 Automatic) question?
I'm repairing my mom's car (it's been sitting for a while and I suspect a rat has chewed on some of the soft lines above the fuel tank). It's a 2001 C5 with the automatic transmission and I need to understand the process on how to remove the fuel tank (on the drivers side). I have removed all the covers underneath the fuel tank, disconnected the fuel lines that go to the pump, disconnected the fill tube that connects to the back of the port where you put the gas pump, but I can't reach where the fill falve tube or the crossover tube where they connect to the top of the gas tank.
Is there any special way to reach these tubes where they connect to the top of the tank? Do I have to remove the entire automatic transmission? Because it's an auto, there's not enough space to just stick my arm between the frame and the transmission to reach the crossover tube.
Thanks again,
AuRora

Almost every video I can find seems to feature the manual transmission variant where all that room exists for your hands to move about and reach in w/o moving that transmission. There's just so little space with the auto transmission (I can't even see the crossover tube).
If I do have to lower the transmission for space, if there is any advice on the best way to approach that (I would be forever grateful)? Maybe there is an optimal way to push it to the side to get it out of the way or do I just have to remove the entire thing from car? Can I remove the auto transmission without taking out the rear subframe of the car?
Sorry about the slew of questions haha, I know I said it before but I really can't thank you guys enough for the thread and the opportunity to get some help with this thing! I don't have all that much experience working on the Corvette but I think I may have hit the proverbial wall w/ this particular issue! I just wish I was more familiar w/ the design of the C5.
