Default 18/19 vs 18/18...please post wheel pics

looking at new pair of shoes for the vert and am debating between going 18's all around (18x9.5 front, 18x11 back) or 18/19" combo (same widths). what are the considerations when deciding between the two. is there that much more of a visual difference? am concerned with the fact that 19's might get bent, especially on these crap chicago roads. and esp in the spring when potholes are everywhere. people with 19's, how often do you find yourself taking a detour or downright surprised by a pothole? also, availability of tires in 19's is limited. wat's the max width for front and rear on a non-tubbed c5 vert with stock brakes. no plans to go big brake either. looking for maximum dish. thanks for all the help.

Choosing between the 2 would come down to entirely looks. I think the C5 needs the 1" larger rear wheel to look right, which is why 18/19 looks better.

As for bending issues/potholes, not much to compare here. First, the fronts will always get hit the hardest as far as bending issues from normal driving. In this comparison, there's no difference. For the 19 rears, if you would be comparing either the 295/35/18 and the 295/35/19, there is no loss of sidewall by going to the 19, it is exactly 1" taller than the 18. (which also helps to fill the wheelwell more and give it a better look).

There are many more choices available in a 295/35/18, and a couple to choose from in a 295/35/19. You could also run a 295/30/19, also a couple choices there, but that is shorter and you would lose some sidewall. Both sizes have been used on C5's with no problems.
With the 18 rear, you do have some more wider sizes that could fit, like a 315 or even a 335 without tubbing. (offset on a 18x11.5" wheel must be carefully planned to run a 335 though), as well as possibly some new tires in the 315 size coming out soon.
In a 19, there's nothing much between the 295 and the monster 345 which requires tubbing.

If you want this for dragstrip traction, and may expirement with wider/stickier tires, I'd say 18's f/r would be your best bet. If you want to look good on the street, the 18/19 does look a whole lot better.
