FLP High-Flow CATS ?

Why not consider what MATT G has done, that being running caltess and then into a conservative muffler, B&B RT 66 Exhaust, so its not too loud for you. This is what i also will be running and my BABY IS COMING HOME THIS WEEK  and i will let you know how loud the sound is.
Neverthess, its seems like the gas smell of going catless is something you don't want to experience but maybe you could talk with MATT G about this, to confirm that the smell is not that bad and really is not a big deal. However, if you want to get cats asap i suggest you call MTI, b/c they sell 3 inch high flow car sound cats which they use on their strokers running 3 inch exhaust.
Hope that helps a bit buddy. My final advice buddy is that you check it out catless and get a conservative exhuast like Matt G and I (many also use corsa touring) and i think you will be good to go!
Take care MAN and I am REALLY HAPPY FOR YOU BUDDY that your car is also just about done. You got your baby put together much faster than i did, but with this darn midwest winter weather, my beast would have just been sitting in the garage anyways!

Well here is the scoop......My car is up at ARE being...errrr....overhauled :D The motor is a bit bigger than before :D
That said, it basically melted the stock CATS.....therefore they had to gut them.
I have a lead on a set of FLP High-Flow CATS from another Forum member....anyone have the FLP High-Flow CATS on a big cube motor? I certainly don't want this happening again so I am somewhat apprehensive of putting CATS back on that cannot take the heat from the big cubbed motor.
Without the CATS I am afraid it will be too loud and the smell, not too mention not optimal flow with the CATS being gutted.
As an aside, I tried running with straight pipes before I sprung for the Cats. While the sound was NOT a problem, the smell was. These big displacement engines flow a lot of air and can get pretty stinky without Cats. Some folks don't mind that, but I found it pretty unpleasant and was therefore willing to give up a few HP (in theory) to make the car a little more livable.
Hope this helps. Best of luck with your project.
Glad I could help!! You'll love the motor. Just keep your wheels pointed to where you want to go! You won't believe the torque this guy puts out.
Thanks a million. This is exactly the info I was looking for and even better you have the same motor :D :seeya I have a feeling I will need the high-flow CATS. I ask about the FLP High-Flow CATS because a Forum member is selling a brand new set for a pretty good price and figured I would save a couple hundred bucks if I could. Doesn't seem anyone is running FLP CATS on a bug cube motor.
Thanks for the info :D
You might consider the Random High Flows: I've got them on my setup and they survive the big block just fine.

Anyway w/o cats on a big cube motor will tend to smell a little. It just depends on what your limit is. To me it is not bad at all but my fiance hates it! Go figure...
Verify with someone else that the FLP cats are indeed 2.5" as I stated above. The vendor sites seem to state all sizes except for the cats and the pictures make it hard to tell. The test-pipes and X-pipe are definitely 2.5", however.

Even more power later on with X-pipe over straight pipes…
Hope this helps.
