I Love this Forum! Thought my Vette had a costly problem, nope just depress the clutch when shutting down and like magic perfection! Thank you and everyone that contributes to the wealth of knowledge available on this forum!
Its NOT dieseling but has alot to do with the dampening springs in the clutch disc. When the enging shuts down the engine stops firing and the pistons are slowed down by compression. When the engine spins down to a very slow speed the crank shaft will start to hunt between compression and vacuum in the cylinders and cause the dampening springs in the clutch disc to go from fully loaded in one direction to fully loaded in the opposite direction.
That my theory! Ive tried every technique known to man to figure it out and YES pushing in the clutch will HELP eliminate the noise. If anybody else has a theory lets hear it. It happens in my 98 and 02 ZO6.
Sounds good to me bud.
Mine made a right racket even with the clutch down , I have since installed the RXT clutch / flywheel and a new GM t bearing actuator .
Not heard a thing from it even with the clutch out.
Expecting some noise when its bedded in though .
Cheers bud
