Check inside your glove box for all the RPO (option codes) your car has. Write them all down (be carefull, easy to mix up numbers and letters). Then visit this site to see what you have and what you don't. http://www.c5registry.com/Production/99.htm
Rob, yes you can install a power telescoping column. I had one installed in my 02 vert. I did not have the memory package on my car. The parts I needed were a telelscoping column, drivers seat power control module with the memory function, and the wire harness to hook up the mpdule to the seat. The column gets its power from the seat module. The last thing you have to do is reprogram the BCM from 001 to 002 to recognize the column. I did not do the installation, it was done by Jason at Team Chevy in Westmont ILL. THe column has worked fine since being installed last August. Cost was about $1,200 parts and labor. The column came from a Corvette bone yard. The module and harness wre ordered thru the dealer parts dept. The tech spent MUCH more time on the car than he charged me for because it was the first time he did one and was taking his time. He did a perfect job, you could never tell its not a factory insatall or that that side of the interior was ever worked on. Hope this helps.
Re: adding electric telescoping wheel (CorvetteSS)
It is a lot of money but not out of line for Vette columns. I don't know what C3 tilt and tele columns go for but I have seen mid-year telescoping columns advertised for about $1,200. If Gm had not stopped offering the power telescoping column as a stand alone option I would not have had to go thru all the work. I probably would have also ordered HUD if it was available as a stand alone option. Option packages are fine for those that want alot of options on their car. It can save the customer money. However GM should let the customer order options singally if they so choose. Thanks for letting me vent. It's the only complaint I have about my buying experience. PS I'm glad I bought a 2002 and not 2003. Now you have to take damn near all the extra junk whether you want it or not.
