Re: AIR FILTER HOUSING.....HOW DO I GET OUT (jbell28)
I see a number of people have viewed your post without any answers and maybe it's because we don't understand the question. Do you want to somehow cut the stock housing? Do you just want to remove the stock housing? Do you want to cut the shroud so that more air can get to the filter?
You might also do a search since there have been a number of posts on cutting the shroud for after-market filters, etc.
Re: AIR FILTER HOUSING.....HOW DO I GET OUT (FunDriver)
It is a PITA there are two bolts under the lid that hold it to the front bumper. I thnk they are torx 30 If I remember correct  I got a 3/8" air rachet with Torx socket and pushed the shroud down enough to get the rachet in there. Of course you unhook it from the air bridge and associated parts.
If you just want to cut a hole in it I would use a die grinder and cut it in place and vacuum the mess out.

Airbox can be easily removed without trouble. Rubber grommets hold front of box lid to frame. Pry off with large screwdriver between frame and lid. Disconnect hose on driver side and electrical connection and loosen clamp at throttle body. The whole thing comes out in five minutes.
First time I spent hours trying to get at torx bolts into frame then realized this was a waste of time.
Re: AIR FILTER HOUSING.....HOW DO I GET OUT (FunDriver)
YES I WANT TO CUT THE STOCK HOUSING SO MORE AIR GETS TO MY K&N....THEY SELL THE PRE-CUT FOR $70 BUT FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD THIS CAN BE DONE FAIRLY EASILY ASSUMING YOU CAN GET THE HOUSING OUT...I'V GOTTEN SOME TIPS BUT ANYTHING YOU CAN ADD WOULD BE HELPFUL :chevy
Re: AIR FILTER HOUSING.....HOW DO I GET OUT (jbell28)
Disconnect the air-bridge at the throttle body & lift up slightly. Then, working from the front of the car, reach in and push straight back and it will come off the mounting pins. Takes a pretty good push, but it will come off.
Re: AIR FILTER HOUSING.....HOW DO I GET OUT (Avanti)
I just want to cut the lid in front of the air filter. I didn't know there is a differnce between the lid and the box....can you explain....thanks
Re: AIR FILTER HOUSING.....HOW DO I GET OUT (jbell28)
To take out the lid just undo the latches, and pull. I would take it out as an assembly, from the throttle body down.Undo clamp at t-body,pry your hands between the box & front of car and BOING! It's out. un-hook the mass air harness first, and breather hose. Then put some holes in it like these.
