Cam Only A4's...
I am now ready to move on with my on-going project and install a cam.
It seems now more than ever there is more cams on the market for ls1's. I am looking for input from those who have done the cam only install and also if they had wish they had gone bigger. :cry
As you you know there is some big cam only numbers floating around but little track times with these. I am looking for realworld numbers not stripped down, no belt type of stuff.
Please post up your before and after numbers.

Yes there are quite a few healthy cams out there...BUT..You really need to consider some of the other components for the best performance whichever cam you choose.. :yesnod:
For one the exhaust..You will now be producing 25-30 RWHP more. If the engine can't breath..your holding preciuos power back!! I would consider a set of Long Tube headers as well at least. You should also think seriously about installing a Transgo shift kit. I feel it's the best bang for the buck mod out there for the A4 ..PERIOD! Now at least you have got the car breathing and the car will shift with authority as well as have the versatility to upshift and downshift at will.. :smash:
Don't forget..along with the cam you absolutely need stronger valve springs and new pushrods..maybe eve lifters.. :rolleyes: There is no such thing as a cam only mod....Just my .02:D

11.66 after adn 12.27 before..

Edgar's car is the real deal when it comes to cam only performance IMO. He has posted real world numbers better than some of the H/C cars.

I do like his times. But his mph is 3+ mph from mine.
His rwhp is 60+ more than me ?
Are those on skinnys too ? My runs are on stock rims/17 in the rear.
Am I crazy to think 117mph+ is possible for me now with a cam and new rims ?

Roger, He ran those times last year, he was running BFG DRs and OEM front wheels. I also believe he still was running the LS1 intake at the time not the LS6 intake.

Roger I ran 116 mph with stock fronts and 11" drag radials with the DA -500.
Now I have ET streets and front skinnies and the DA is around +1500 and I am running 112.
Keep in mind that the ET streets will take a away a little mph cause of more resistence and the DA increase also takes away a little mph.
Also, just in cause my full sig is not read, I too have the long tube headers for breathing. I always forget to mention them because I consider them a necessary component. In fact the package that is sold by The Vette Doctors for about $2500 is complete with long tubes.
