I took my car out when it was very cold about a month ago and the AC when turned on would flash and go off. Now that it is warmer and I took it out it seems fine. Can anyone tell me if this is normal??
AC Compressor is designed to come on any time that you use the defrost.
This way everything keeps lubricated, because the AC is not run during the winter time, and the defrost run will keep everything in working order. Now if you were low on Freon, then the compressor will "cycle" off and on.

Re: AC wouldn't come on (CP)
my car did the same thing i thought i lost freon over the winter ,but as soon as i got it out in the warm weather this past weekend it came right on . :flag
BING! Give CP the cigar. He wins with the correct answer. Thank you for playing. :D
Why doesn't the A/C come on below 39 degrees? Liquid refrigerant (freon) tends to flow back into the A/C compressor at low temps. If the compressor starts with liquid refrigerant in the compressor, the valves will blow out because the liquid won't compress like gas/vapor will. The added pressure will blow out the compressor valves.
