Default Stock Clutch question??

Hey all

I just got a new 03 z06 , I have put 100 k on it. I am new to a standard transmission, but didn't seem to have any problem learning to drive it. I know it is not a good idea to learn on this car, but I did :( .

My question is this, I never drove the car hard , no stalls or problems learning etc, but I was at a light the other day and thought I was in first , when I was actually in 3rd, the car bogged down on takeoff and I gave gas to prevent stall and got a really bad burning clutch smell and the clutch seemed to stick about 1/2 way down for a second . Do you think I may have caused serious damage or has this happened to anyone else, I am kinda worried as the car is newly being broken in. .

Thank you

Probably didn't do any kind of real damage. The large amount of torque the LS6 has may have just overcome the clutch for a moment as you were engaging it. Just keep an eye on it. Should be O.K.

Robert :)

Glad to help.

BTW, in you original post you said have 100k miles on you car. Did you mean 100 miles and not 100,000 miles? ;)

You probably don't have any damage if you were just taking off from a light normally. If you were racing and accidentally started slipping it in 3rd, then you could consider some possible clutch damage. But even then it would probably have just burned some and gone away. These clutches are a lot stronger than clutches in most cars.

Have a fun time in your new car.

Well you know what they say, you should drive the car at different speeds up to 500 miles. Everything should be fine, don't worry. Believe me takes a lot more than than that to burn clutch. Wait till you put miles on it and the clutch really sets in...see ya!! :seeya
