Highest CR you can have using pump gas??
Highest CR you can have using pump 93 octane gas? I was thinking of 11.1:1 CR or 11.5:1 if I can get that high. Let me know what the highest you guys have been running. :steering:

Too many other factors to give one easy answer. Stock cams with low overlap won't tolerate as much compression as wilder cams. Altitude you are running the car will affect how much compression. Head design will also have an affect. The LS6 heads run mid 10's with a slightly wilder cam than the LS1. I am running 11.4:1 CR with zero knock, BUT I am running the 5.3 truck heads, a wilder cam, and am at 5,300 ft altitude.
Can you get away with 11:1 at sea level? Probably
11.5:1? With a big cam, maybe, but I'd guess not.

Thanks 6Speeder. I live in Muscatine, Iowa and I don't know what the altitude is here. So what octane gas are you using with your CR 11.4:1 and I'm going to us the 5.3 heads also. What mods do you have one your car and do you think you get more power out of the 5.3 heads over the LS6 Stage 2 heads?

Nate: I think the 5.3 heads work great with my cam, but I'd hate to put this combination up against a more radical cam/Stage II LS6 heads combination. I DO think the 5.3's make great daily driver, street heads. HOw's that for weasel-wording? I shoulda been a politician! :lol:
