SushiDave is correct :iagree: but if you still think your CV is going bad try listening to the sound of your rear wheel area as the car begins to roll from a standing stop and/or as the car slows down to a stop (typically less road noise at those times) - around 5-10mph. If you hear a clickety clickety clickety (no jokes here please) as you are rolling to a stop or starting from a stop then THAT's definitely your CV.

Another method is to get the car up into the air (preferably not at high speed :lolg: ) - on a lift or jack stands - and grab a half-shaft in both hands and rotate the shaft. If the CV clicks, you may have a problem. Generally the CV will fail because the outer boot has split and allowed dirt/water to enter the bearing assembly of the CV causing it to wear. So look at those black CV boots as well to ensure they are in good shape.

Good luck

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but, I have a clunck when I take off and at low speeds. Sounds like I should check the rear bearing hold down nut torque as a simple attempt to remedy this. Since I have no clue where the nut is or what the torque spec is, can someone help me out here???

Sounds like you better check torque :yesnod:
Remove rear wheel you will see if I remember correctly 1 1/2 inch bearing lock down nut. Torque to 125 FT LBS.
