Default Corvette intake comparison / dyno numbers

I am looking to buy intake/induction for my c5. Can anyone give me any dyno numbers after installing an intake system. Any numbers on the vararam ram air induction, vortex ram air, blackwing intake, dual intake setup would be helpful. Results and satisfaction of your intake system?

Ya need to be moving to realize the HP or SOTP advantage of a cold air intake. I know that I felt a SOTP difference when I installed my vortex.

I don't have before and after, but I have a stock car but for vararam and stingers. While running a little hot (a little over 200*) put down 330hp and 332tq this past friday.

hope this helps.

They're all pretty similar. Choose one based on price, looks, and ease of install first, then count on ~10rwhp and you won't be disappointed. :seeya

:iagree: This is why I chose the Blackwing.

I just did a dyno pull this weekend, and with a Vortex intake and a K&N filter on it I got 322.7 rwhp, 321.8 ft-lbs torque. I hope this helps a little.

JDR, welcome to the forum! I hope you know you opened a real can of worms! Thats ok though, we go through this excercise once a month at least. I have a Blackwing and I like it. It feels a little stronger than the tyrap no lid method which you can try for free. I am thinking of getting a Vararam since the users like it so much, and it seems to improve their track times.

I want to thank everyone for the input. I think the blackwing seems to be a good choice also. However, i see advertisements all the time for the vararam ram air induction which claims you will get about .4 off your 1/4 mile time. I am looking to gain the most time off of the 1/4 mile. Do you think that the blackwing or the vararam will improve times better.

The vararam will potentialy give better gains IMHO. Improveing your times is up to your driveing not intakes, if you get my meaning. Ric

I have an automatic corvette. So my driving will not really affect the time much. Is there a big difference between the two intakes when comparing the difference in sounds with a new exhaust system.

I chose the Blackwing because it is the best "filter" while also adding some power. IMO the idea behind an intake should first be how well your air filter cleans the air to ultimately protect your engine. After that power gains are of course a nice bonus

Your kidding? Right? Driveing will not really affect the time much? I don't have a clue how to respond. Good Luck!! Ric

Are you kidding? I have got the within .1 of the same time the past 15 times i have run at the track. My driving is not the problem. There is no way to improve better once you already launch the car. The only thing that can be improved on my driving is the launch, but not by much because i run at about a 2.1 60 foot everytime. If you want, you can come drive my automatic and see if you can get a significant better time. We can put down 1000 on it, and when you dont knock off over .1 with my stock tires, you will be buying me a new torque converter. Thanks. Have a great day.

:nonod: JDR, little JDR :nonod:

As you are new to the site, we should cut you a break. If you have been to the track 15 times and you have not even changed the stock intake then have issues. :p: :jester

In all seriousness, you are probably correct since you have not modded your car. However, once you start making mods. . .driving will make all of the difference, even for an A4. You see, once you start making changes like a torque converter, different gears, intake, exhaust. . .pretty soon you can't just floor it and go because you will get turned sideways in a hurry. Just wait until you finally step up to the head/cam or supercharger. . .

You will certainly need a transgo shift kit so then you can drive the A4 the way it's meant to be driven. :yesnod: :auto: :steering:
