I'm needing some new tires and I was wondering what you guys recommend. I'm looking for some tire that would be good for the street and also at the drag strip. I still have the stock size rims. So, whats the best tire out there for corvette as far as handling and grip?
Nitto Extreme 555's. I went with 255/40/ZR17 fronts and 285/35/ZR18 rears. Fit on my stock C5 size OEM Y2K wheels perfectly and look great, better than the G/Y EMT's. Adjusted for the tire height change (-7/10 inch) with my Hypertech PP3. They provide superior traction and ride quality at a great price.
:yesnod:
I put Goodyear Eagle F1-D3's on the 2000 coupe and they are an excellent overall wet/dry street tire and a good value. Haven't been to the drag strip yet but they are a significant improvement over the OEM run-flats. Tire Rack had a survey which rated them tops overall against all the big names. They are not the best in the dry but are still very good. I am very satisfied for an all around daily driven street car.
1. BFG KD's - best performing true street tire
2. Kuhmo's - my next tire because they are much cheaper and they appear to perform very well.
best of luck
This was certainly true before the new Goodyear F1s hit the street, but I'm not so sure that the BFs are still king. The F1s have received rave reviews so far.
