response from FLP

From Mitch-everyone, PLEASE check to see that you do in fact have a leak BEFORE calling FLP! You can even check if the headers are already installed-on a cool car, apply soapy water where the airtube is welded to the flange. If it bubbles up when you start the vette, you have a leak. Also if you see a light brown residue at the primary pipe where it meets the flange, that is a sign also.
IF you do have a leak, contact FLP with your shipping info, and as soon as they get more in stock you will get a new set, install them and send back the old ones, making your "down" time is only a day.
Again, I want to thank Mitch for being such a professional guy and I hope they can rectify their situation so they can get back to selling some headers! This has affected not just their C5 headers, so be patient with them-Dynatech makes these and they are NOT reimbursing FLP for their losses unfortunately.

FedEx picked up my FLPs today to return, hoping for quick replacement... :D
good luck

they are not being reimbursed by the manufacturer, so they cannot in turn reimburse us

FLP, welcome to the world of Corrective and Preventive action and Sub-contractors.
I won't get into who should do what, I will let you each draw you own conclusions... ;)

Humm.....aren't they marketed as FLPs.....

Very interesting...I was thinking the same thing...they are marketed under the "Finish Line Performance" (FLP) name as THEIR product.......Mine when bolted up have a huge gap at the primarys! I surely hope FLP will make good by their customer base!
Mitch says "no header flange is perfectly straight".....but when I told him that TPIS headers are...he says "I don't care about TPIS headers"......well anyone who wants a straight flange will surely care about them......we spend enough money on these products....guaranteed leak proof and A1 quality...well my second set is totally unacceptable craftmanship! And to be told that they have nothing in stock and will do nothing about the install price paid by the customer is pure :bs
He quoted me examples of mods installed that didnt reproduce good dyno numbers and how the vendor isn't responsible for install costs....that has nothing to do with a defect issue......but even if it had...you market gains...they are false advertising...you are responsible.....Perhaps someone should start quoting Mitch case law instead of BS examples!
I am sure in a court of law FLP would be responsible for install costs/AGITA INCURRED....don't you guys? to accept being told that you have to eat hundreds of dollars because of their defective product is not fair nor acceptable.
Hopefully FLP will save face and start treating their customers fairly and truley be a stand up vendor...being "outed" by a forum member and then posting to say their part is defective is not stand up in my book...what about the members that didnt see the post???????????????? If they received something in the mail or a call that truley would have been stand up!

check your e-mail
Are you sending the entire set back or just swapping out the headers???

Right now my Z has a passenger side leak, I smell exhaust in the cockpit and my rpm's are down, power loss I do feel for sure. I have not been driving the Z, am concerned about overheating and causing damage. I have 2 track events pre-paid for this month that I will be out if I don't go back to stock until the replacement headers are in.
Sooo. you can do the math, I am out the back to stock labor, then the re-install once the headers are replaced....not to mention the hassle of all this.
I am trying to be understanding, but after 5 mos of snow, ready to run your vette and have fun, and shelling out $1500 I guess I expected a little more.
I feel Dynatech or FLP should have offered some type of compensation to those that already installed-a credit with them, something. I also feel we should have been contacted directly, not a post on the forum.
They will be sending me just the passenger side Header.....so I should be able to swap it out pretty quickly...
vettegirl.....I agree, some type of credit or reimbursment for those who spent money to have the system installed would be good faith.......hope it works out for us all to our satisfaction!

Learned a big lesson-wish I could just return them and get my $ back but I sense I would be up against a big battle with FLP and don't need more headache
MANY years ago, I bought a set of the "Sidemount" headers that Hooker used to sell. I installed them on a Pontiac T/A that I used to own. They advertised that the headers were painted with a "Hi-Temp, black finish". That burned off in a couple of weeks, and I had to take them back off the car for refinishing. (figure about 6 hrs. of my labor, plus paint and gaskets) This was annoying enough, but the best was yet to come.
The real "kick in the pants", however, was that the collectors rusted out and fell off the primaries after about 5-6000 miles. I kid you not!! At that point I contacted Hooker about some sort of replacement or compensation, and they wouldn't even reply to my letters or take my follow-up phone calls. In 1977, I spent $700 for that exhaust system, a fair chunk of change back then, and I had to toss it away after a short period of time. Believe me, I know how all of you feel!!
