Is there any other suggestions. I assume there are no springs or adjustments with the Kirbin? Any updated parts I shoulds acquire, etc.?
Should I use locktite on the bolts?
I too bought mine from a forum member. Just pulled mine out and stuck the new one in. To be honest, I don't even remember seeing any adjustments. Great shifter that gets better with use. :steering:
I also purchased a used Kirban and soon realized that I was missing the heat shield. It looks like a tin can lid that screws that screws on and seals the console. If you need one, call Kirban and they'll send you one. Also, I adjusted the stops just enough so that a piece of paper could slip through... snugly.
I also have the Kirban. I adjusted the stops at first. But i did not like the way it went into gear. After reading several posts on the topic, I just backed the stops out so there was plenty of clearance. It now goes into gear with a much more positive feel. No probelms so far. SCOTT
Thanks. I installed it so the stops allow a thick piece of paper to slip through as well. Installed the heat shield. Great Mod!!! I should have done this a long time ago.
One question though, which side did you install the shift lever? I installed mine on the passenger side. Don't think it makes a difference but the manual made no reference.
Mine's on the driver's side. I guess try both and go with what feels best. I wanted to make sure gears 1-4 were very reachable, so i just figured I'd put it on the driver's side.
sorry I don't have the number as I purchased it used.

I installed mine on the passenger side as I thought I would have more leverage to access gears 1 and 2. I will try the driver's side for kick when it warms-up here in Chicago.
