I hear there have been failures of the valley cover under the intake, causing oil consumption problems similar to the LS1 problem prior to 01'. Can anyone confirm this, as there seem to be no GM TSB's on the matter. After years of no problems, I seem to be getting an unusual amount of oil back into my throttle body.
I appreciate the advice, but the question remains. I have run this car for nearly 3 years, and have NEVER had the problem until my most recent engine swap. A friend told me the seal/baffle in the valley covers could become damaged, and I am looking for confirmation. I will run a catch can/separator if necessary, but would prefer to find the cause not rig up a make-shift solution. I am going to swap valley covers and inspect them both this week.
That's funny, I'm sure GM is going to replace my Katech forged pistons and rods!
Now really, I found the problem. It is exactly as mentioned above, the baffle is not sealed to the cover. The picture shows the area on my engine where there is a leak. Had to do the old "put your hand over the baffle and blow" technique to find it. My other cover seals perfectly. I'll pull the bad on apart and reseal it.
