IMHO - Considering your mods, those numbers are VERY respectable! What was your reaction time? Were you having traction trouble? (2 big 60 foot time factors). Also what were the track conditions (temp, humdidty, altitude)?
First you need tires. Drag Radials BFG or Nitto will help you get down to 1.9 maybe 1.89 area.
You did not say what size converter you have but if you are stock then you will never see a 1.7. You will need a higher stall converter to get into the 1.8 10 1.78 area.
A taller rear like 3.42 or 3.73 will be the other helper to get you into the 1.7 60' range regularly.
Traction at the track can be another slow down item. Talk to other drivers at the track to see if they are having trouble hooking up as well.
The best 60 ft. we had in near stock condition was a 1.89 sec. with run flats, with 1.9-2.0's being a good average with those tires. Slap on a pair of DR's and anything greater than a 1.90 is a big disappointment, with 1.7-1.8's much more common. Of course, our Vig. 3500 helps a bunch too. We can pretty much flat foot the launch now with a good pair of hot DR's.
Pick up some DR's and watch your ET's go down to a nice range! Your mph is on track and with DR's, your ET's will look like most others with the mods you have.
I looked back thru my early runs when I had just a air filter and a Corsa exhaust mod. My ET's and mph were in line with yours taking into account the 60 ft. differences. Lowering your 60 ft. times will have a bigger effect on your ET's than just subtracting the time you pick up with the DR’s. It’s always nice saying you achieved a great time with street tires, but the fact is most guys are running DR’s as a minimum and anyway, this is drag racing, so ruining drag tires is expected!
Thanx guys for the replys.....First i had a small problem of spinning the tires of the line...2ND i felt that the car was not shifting smoothly....3RD i do not wana go to DR'S because i wana do it with street tires..The track is not very important to me..But i do want to get a better 60ft....What do you guys think would help me more in doing so...TC/ gears....And isn't a higher stall TC would hurt me in the street...I spin tires with this stock TC....Thanx for the help
If that is the case then just lower the pressure on your tire to about 21 and do a little burnout and bump up the rpm to about 900 or 1000 and punch it.
Don't expect huge increases at the track in 60' if you do tc and gears without the drag radials cause you will just spin more.
I was just like you and wanted to run awesome times on the EMTs, it is tough. Do not let air out of your EMTs because the sidewall is so hard it won't matter at all. The following may help your times and reduce spinning.
1) Turn off traction control
2) drive around the water box
3) do a slight burnout
4) bring up your rpms to about 1000 at the line(this may vary)
5) push the gas pedal down. but don't slam it( this will stop the tire spin)
6) have fun
#s are in my sig, but heat up the tires as mentioned, try a line-lock to make it easy....I cut consistent 1.9 60' times on street nittos at street pressure :)
just for refrence, I cut 12.9s this past Sat in the hot FL weather with 1.9/2.0 slippery track 60's :)
Thanx guys......i am thinking of getting nitrous..100 wet....what #'s do you guys think i might run..oh yeah i well get the Progressive controller with it....
And i joined the 12's club cuz of the #'s that i have seen people pull with the same set up...do not worry i well change it........

Remember that to reduce your ET you can add HP/TQ up to a point. After that, if you don’t improve your traction, HP/TQ increases are almost useless. If you can’t transfer the power to the pavement, it’s like you don’t have it. It’s quite possible that you ET will increase instead of going down.
That's true, but if I get TC would not i spin of the line...i am doing that now...how can a TC help me, or at that gears also....I am new at this and any help would do...And the idea behind the progressive controller is to spry in stages that way i would not spin....is not that the idea of the controller...thanx
Okay, I go to the track once every 2 weeks or so....I do most of my racing in the street...Now i must have a way to know what am i running...So, i do not run someone who's better than me our out of my reach..And the track is the way to go....I know there will be a difference between the street and the track..and that is why i am trying to run at the track the same way i drive my car in the street WITH OUT any changes.....I hope that makes you guys understand better where i am coming from, or why i am asking all these Q's..
