I was planning on getting the FLP header package, mainly because I was interested in having the option to run straight pipes or cats with little effort to switch.
I have come to the conclusion that I will probably put one or the other on and stick with them.
It appears to be generally accepted that high-flow cats don't give much if any advantage over factory cats, and that an X-pipe, or aftermarket H-pipe only helps resonance.
What is the most cost effective LT header combination if the above statements regarding h-pipe and cats are true?
I might be interested in this pending what happens with my FLP situation. You could weld flanges onto TPIS headers and have an even simpler change than using FLPs. Costwise, it would probably be around the same to have this done to the TPIS units as it would be to buy the FLP setup. The only drawback would be possible turbulence in the flange area, but that would probably be a 5 RWHP loss max.
I just installed stainless works headers and random tech cats- x pipe part#752723 for about the cost of the flp system. My exhaust system is 304 stainless front to back and do not have the issues with the v clamps(I used band clamps). The headers are very easy to install.
