Tire Replacement on a C-5 ????
I am a C-3 guy, but have a friend with a 2001 who is ready for new tires. I have heard about the Kummos and others. Any recomendations would be great. especially to get away from the run flats $$$$$$
thanks
if he drives only on nice sunny dry days then the best stickiest street tire IMHO is the bf goodrich kds. if he occasionally drives in the rain then go for the michelin pilot sports
nope no issues at all. what i did to make things easier was mark each sensor to where it belonged on the car so that i didnt have to reprogram them, if for example a left rear was placed on the right rear or front to back.

BFG are by far the best for dry weather traction. Cornering is greatly improved, however they do wear a bit quicker do to the softer compound.

For a budget minded tire upgrade, consider the Bridgestone S0-3's. These are getting great reviews on Tire Rack and I've spoken to an individual who really liked them.
I just put a set of Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Positions on my MY02 Coupe 6-spd...much, much quieter ride. Damn OEM Goodyear runflats only lasted 20K miles, and I didn't even smoke them! (I did drive the 'Vette on the German autobahn system where some sections are still "unlimited"...broke 168 mph!...but that was on the Goodyears.)
Go to tirerack.com and review their road test and reviews of tires for the C5. Last time I looked...Bridgestone Potenza S03's were it along with the $$$$ Pirreli's. good Luck.
I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/Ss and have had no issues with the sensors. Better traction, performance, ride, and much less road noise. Top ratings in wet and dry traction and 400 treadwear rating. Yeah B A B Y Yeah!

Kumho(non runflat) for me. It was tire racks tests that convinced me. This tire performs better than most of the high dollar tires mentioned above and equal to the best out there.$640 delivered to your door, that leaves many hundreds of dollars for more worth while mods.
I am also currently shopping for new tires on my '99. If you check out the tire rack customer reviews, the new goodyear f1 GS-D3 is getting rave reviews. I think this will be my choice. They are not runflats though. They are also alot less than runflats.
