pull key, wait 10 seconds
I have a 00 coupe. Coming home from Houston on Sunday I stopped to get gas. Got back in the car and got the pull key wait 10 seconds message. Tried it and got teh service column lock messaage. The steering wheel worked fine but when I would pull forward the car would kill. Anyways, disconnecte the battery and waited, still got the pull key message. Jacked around about a half an hour wondering if I was going to get back to Dallas, and then I heard the actuator engage and didn't know if it had just permanently locked or had finally done what it was waiting for. The car started up and I drove home.
Now, I didn't own this car initially. Is it possible someone installed the lock bypass and that is why the column didn't lock. Should I just take it to Chevy? It is still under warranty.

Take it to Chevy and have it repaired.
I had this same thing happen to me.
It locked up but I managed to get it to disengage by turning the wheel hard to the left and right.
2 weeks later it locked up for good.
Fix it now while you can, otherwise it will lock up again, and according to Murphy's Law it will probably lock up out of town. :lol:
