I assume the torques are the same for a 1998 C5. In the Forum Search I found varying values for the Caliper bolts; 23 ft lb, 25 ft lb and 27 ft lb. I sold my 1998 and passed the Service Manuals to the new owner (I've ordered the 2003 Service Manuals, will ship in 7 to 10 days.
Here is what I think is correct;
Caliper Mounting Brackets = 125 ft lb (new Grade 8 w/ a dab of red lock-tite)
Caliper Bolts = 23, 25 or 27 ft lb
Lug Nuts = 100 ft lb
Please help with the Caliper Bolts ft lb value, and any other mistakes.
Thanks in advance,
Ron
caliper bracket mounting bolts have locktite already on the new bolts.......i wouldnt advise adding anything to them........125ft lbs is correct torque.... the caliper to bracket bolts i used 1/2 a grunt with my calibrated left arm :lol: :lol: :lol:
Is it really necessary to replace the bracket bolts after they have been removed. I have heard both sides. Why not just clean them, add a dab of red loctite and torque them to 125lb/ft.
i agree on the bolts.......but.........the general has its reasons and i will spend the little money for new bolts just to be on the safe side JMHO........besides you cant be to safe when it comes to stopping........ :cheers: :cheers:
That part looks good, I'll get new bolts in that I saw the factory torqued them to 162 ft lb in one case. Now the big problen is the Caliper Bolts, whick value ?? ???

WOW, that's perfect. Thank you very much. I hope I can return the favor someday. I will be on the forum more often (I'm retiring in two weeks and I'll have the Service Manuals by then), and hopefully I can help others.
THANKS again.
Ron
