I am paying 2.00 a gallon here for 93 or 91 octane and need a little help. I am wondering if anyone has tried 87 and bought the appropriate octane boost to solve the fuel price hell we are going through. I can buy the combo costing me 1.50 a gallon which is a lot cheaper than I pay now for just the gas. Can anyone shed some light on where this will work sufficiently or not?
You would have to add a whole lot of booster to get the 87 to 91... Even if you were mixing 100 octane to 91 octane to boost that fuel you have to add 5 gallons of 100 to get (existing) 5 gallons of 91 to get 96 octane. Here is a good site for octane ratings and info about octane in general.. if you read it all, you can really learn something about fuel. :)
