I am about to have 410' s installed in my 99 frc. I just wanted some opinions on this, with the mods I have would this make traction a real problem with 315 DR at the track. And how about on the street with 295 OEM ZO6 tires. I was also wondering what kind of Et I could expect, i have not ran the car at all with the new h/c. will the 410 be alot better then the 342? If so how much. I know driver has alot to do with it. Thanks, John :steering:
4.10 will not necessarily cause traction problems at the track with your 315 drag radial. Most drivers with 4.10 will us a Mickey Thompson ET Street bias ply tire rather than drag radial for traction.
You will pick up some ET. You really should try to get out to the track before changing so that you can baseline it. I don't have mine in long enough (A4) to be able to tell you what my gain has been.
On the street, just keep in mind you have the bigger gear and will want to be more aware of what you are doing when you mash the peddle with you street tires.
Thanks Scott , We are putting down just about the same hp and tq. Would really like to see your new times with the gears. What tires did you run the 11.7 on. and what tires will you be using this time. John :hurray: :steering:
Duntov-097 What kind of dyno #'s do you have to get such agood ET's. Thanks, John :steering:
Think this way...
There are Stock 2002 Z06 (360 rwhp)Pulling deep into the 11's on Drag radial only...
With 4.10's on a say 340 rwhp you should be able to do the same... HP for HP the 4.10's pull harder on an MN6 than every gear in a Stock Z06 tranny. :smash:
Thanks guys. That is exactly the information that I needed to solidify my decision to go with the 4.10's. I wasn't sure if the 4.10 would be too much, but it seems to be the perfect gear for the MN6. :yesnod:

I have heard you say this a number of times. Gears dont magically multiply horsepower, they help you make it more usable by keeping you at higher rpms. Thats just my personal opinion, so why dont you take your car out and prove me wrong. ;)
Actually, that's not necessarily true. A higher gear will help you accelerate quicker based on the gearing ratio (to a point of course). The more horsepower you have the quicker the engine will turn the gears resulting in a quicker acceleration. It's almost a type of cheating, in a way I guess.

Eric, I believe this is true if you are talking about an A4 Guy who installed a 4000rpm Stall Converter.. Then in fact the only gain you got was to put the motor at 4000 rpms where the major power is.
On my MN6 I turn 500rpm faster across the rpm band. Turning 500 rpms faster only gives a very marginal hp gain. But with the torque multiplier it equates to about 70hp. My 4.10's can be felt at 2000 rpm. And it is a huge difference.
