X pipes are great for "balancing" sound, as well as eliminating or greatly reducing popping on deceleration. Depending on the rest of the exhaust system you choose, it can have other effects on sound. For example i have heard thet it eliminates the "motor boat" sound Corsa exhaust is so famous for. They also can contribute very small hp/tq gains... but as I said .. very small.
I choose the Magnaflow X-Pipe, after reading many posts, it looks like it flows the best. The quality of it is GREAT for sure.
I heard 1KLRTOYs Magnaflow and GHL combo one night in Pleasanton, I now have the same settup on my FRC and the sound is fantastic!!! LAPD does a great job of getting the parts to you also!! :auto:
I recently installed the Corsa X-pipe, already had the Corsa Indy's for a few years. Motorboat sound at idle is gone, eliminated 75-85% of the decel popping. No change in loudness, or resonance noted.
Does anyone know if the design of the stock X-pipe (or H-pipe) changed from 1998 to later years? Specifically, has the hole between the sides gotten larger or stayed the same?
Since just about all model years have been chiming in that installing x-pipe has solved most of the problem, I would suspect that no changes in the diameter of the hole(s) has been made. Sawed mine open and it was no bigger than dime size at best.
