Need advice on a programmer....
Just installed my 160 stat, and am considering the hypertech to control my fans. I know they don't help the M6 a whole lot, but even a slight bump in HP/TQ would be cool. What about the other options- predater, ADS, or any other programing. I read all about the LS1 edit and similar diagnostics, but I don't think i am capable of doing at that on my own. No local places do anything like that. Being able to get into the programming and fine-tuning it sounds great, but I need help getting started. I hear from people who actually lose power due to knock retard. I wouldn't be able to fix it. I can always just wire a switch to run my fan, which would be another option. I highly doubt i will do any internal mods-(heads/cam) in the future. Any suggestins would be appreciated.
email me for the email address of a tuner in CA. you can get a custom tune via email using EASE. He tuned my vette and 3 of my friend's vettes. Came out great. good pricing too, especially if you ever want to upgrade in the future.

The HPP3 is not a bad option if you're looking for something low cost and easily reversible and don't require a highly optimized engine tune. You should be able to score a preowned unit for $200 or less, and anticipate being able to resell for around that when you outgrow it. You might even try and find you like the engine tuning. Or not and reverse it. Plenty of folks out there who would be willing to use an HPP3 but not willing to commit to fully custom programming. It's a little overkill for just fans, but hey. :) Personally I wouldn't be comfortable getting a custom tune without a good understanding of the system being modified, using the HPP3 will get you started down that road. I limped along (quite happily) with an HPP3 until LS1-Edit was available.

Is there a way to obtain a new chip from Hypertech?
