Default hypertech programmer....the good, the bad, or the cool?

Just wondering who out there has one and how they like it. I am trying to decide between my next mods coming up and would like some input. Thanks

IMO, the Predator is vastly superior to the Hypertech.

I bought one for $200.00 shipped on the Forum. I like mine for changing for 3.42 diff, shift points, fan temps, tire size, and for the 160* stat. It works better for automatics than manuals and for $200.00 used on the Forum, you can't go wrong. Plus, when your ready for more serious mods, sell it for $200.00 and buy LS1 edit or Predator (99-03 only). :yesnod:

Bought it in conjunction with a 160 stat...seemed to help some SOTP..added a blackwing, TPIS longtubes and Stingers since...see sig for results of those mods

I've heard all the stories about these things, good and bad, but when I installed the HPP3 on my 98 last week I would have to say it made a big difference. I dont have a dyno sheet to prove it but seat in the pants performance is their and I raced my friends car before and after and that was more than enough to prove it worked! I dont know what year c5 you are inquiring for but I was told at a local performance that does custom tuning that the 98 c5's had several diferent computers that year and some were good and some were not so good so a generic program like the HPP3 would possibly help that year car out over the 99's and up. As for the cooling thats the one thing I can tell you for sure that worked. I put the 160 powerstat along with the HPP3 and my temp is always at 176 degrees now.

I am very happy with my HPP3. I used it to increase the shift firmness in my A4, raise the shift points, increase the rev limit, adjust for non-stock tire size, adjust fan temp settings and optimize the spark and fuel tuning. It works best for automatics, you can really feel the improvement in the shifting.

What did you raise your shift points to?

Does changing the rev limiter or the top speed do anything? and if so what?

Thanks

I have one for a 98 like new, box, cable and manual. My car has been returned to stock, awaiting funds for a custom program. $200 shipped, I am in NY/NJ area, if you are close we can meet and you can save 10 bucks as well. :seeya
