I've wondered, what is the sound difference between the stroker kits and the stock blocks. Is it only performance or does it give the car that big block exhaust note?
My 436ci Stroker sounds pretty mean......and that is with the Corsa Touring exhaust :D I've wondered, what is the sound difference between the stroker kits and the stock blocks. Is it only performance or does it give the car that big block exhaust note?
Buckmaster- how many RWHP is your 436 making?? Is it a Darton block?( I remember reading posts while you were planning it but I can't remember if it was a darton)
Joel
did it a few years ago when they first came out with the kit. Very much worth then. Now, I would just get a resleeve block and make something over 400 cid.
Did you install the kit yourself or have a performance show do it for ya? Trying to decide between a 382 stroker and S/C package.
myself and a friend, who races vettes about evrey weekend.
Fairly easy. the only problem we had was getting the engine out. We were not well prepared for getting the engine out from the bottom, but we learned (cracked a lil bit of the firewall in the process :D  ).
Right now I am on my 441 cid. ARE is doing the resleeve.
You could just do the resleeve, keep the stock crank, make her a screamer and then later put in a stroker crank, etc.....
overall, the 383 worked great....stump puller for sure.
The Lunati 382 kit is a very nice kit and will come ballanced and ready to go. You will pick up some great HP from the install of the kit as well as gain a lot in parts strength and integrity. While you have the engine out, you can check all the clearances and put the block back together in meticulous working order.
The change in sound you get is going to come from compression changes and camshaft selection. The more overlap, the louder the exhaust will be.
Good luck and let me know if you need any help with the kit or complete engine or even just some questions...
