Yep finally it happend to me. The column lock is stuck so the wheel turns freely and when you go to drive the car it will turn off after about 2 feet. Will a CLB fix this or do I have to get the CLB and new lock??
Re: OH JOY COLUMN LOCK STUCK IN OFF POSTION!!! (DCBStingray)
It may not be the column lock. It may be theft prevention system. Pull the key out of the ignition a couple of times and then give it a try. If that does not work, look on the sides of the key for what looks like a piece of small wire(both sides). Clean those small wires with contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol. Give it a try again. If this does not work, you may have to pull one of the battery cables for a few seconds and reinstall the cable. Hope this helps
Re: OH JOY COLUMN LOCK STUCK IN OFF POSTION!!! (DCBStingray)
Alittle more info about this I should have said earlier. I had the battery unhooked for about 2 weeks, I was doing a cam install and ended up waiting for the cam longer than I expected.
Re: OH JOY COLUMN LOCK STUCK IN OFF POSTION!!! (DCBStingray)
Ok I just tried the spare key and cleaned the other ket w/ rubbing alchol still getting the SCL message. What I can't understand is that it is not locked and when the pull key message comes on I can hear some clicking in the passernger side fuse box.
Re: OH JOY COLUMN LOCK STUCK IN OFF POSTION!!! (DCBStingray)
When you remove the key, can you hear the column lock? If not, do you know where the fuse box is in the passenger footwell. If so, pull fuse 25, I think and put back and give it a try. I will check tha fuse number and get back soon!!!!!!!!! You need to get the CL bypass.
