What mods to do with 5 grand?
What mods should I get with about 5 grand? I already have an exhaust, intake, and a shifter. I'm thinking headers and a cam, but which brand should I go with and also what kind of cam? Oh yeah one last thing, how much would the install be, and does anyone know of any shop around Chicago.

FLP is in chicago,the do good work,give em a call,you could by a cartek H/C package and have them install and tune! just a suggestion,would get you some good #s,thanks steve :seeya

I don't know if this considered a mod... but how's HRE wheels sound? The wheels/tires make the C5's look sooo good!! :cheers:

Go with a higer rear gear ratio (3.73, 3.90, 4.10), stickier tires, LS6 intake manifold, LGM Headers, and a custom PCM edit. :D

Stage II heads, Custom Cam, LT headers, Custom Dyno tuning and install under $5000. 400-430 RWHP on 6-speed cars depending on cam profile. Idles and drives great.

why does everyone forget about the clutch? Unless you drive like a grandmother, you will need an aftermarket clutch making more than 400rwhp. Thats another $1200-1500 he is going to have to qorry about later.

I thought I was going to be able to do a H/C package for around 5k as werll, that was until I got started on the project. When you get H/C, of course you should get the intake and then you need new double roller timing chain, then you need injectors and headers and you do need the clutch. Then if you want drag race you ET streets and to get those stcky you need line lock. Where does it stop?, I know I forgot some stuff as well. My point is you can't go fast cheap!!!!! and you will always spend more than you thought you we're going to but either way it's like a sickness or an addiction you gotta have it so have fun and beg the wife for more $$$$$$$. For $5000, I think a heads/cam package with a good set of Stainless Steel long tube headers would be your best bang for the buck.
