A better question would have been, "Who hasn't had problems with an original Delco battery in the 1997 - 2000 C5's?
Yes - my original Delco battery leaked acid and caused considerable damage to my 1999 C5 coupe. This was a problem that was well known by Chevrolet but they chose to ignore it for the 1997 - 2000 C5's.
Rumor has it that the positive post connections were overtorqued at the factory. This makes sense to me since I've been using ACDelco batteries for 22 years and never had a leaker.
The new ACDelco AGM (introduced in 2001) is leak and vibrationproof, so if you have the leakage problem in an older lead-acid battery, the AGM is a great replacement.
Just yesterday my 98 vert went haywire, and the first thing that I looked at was the battery. yep, it had battey acid on the wires and on the hold down screw....I had to have mine towed, because it wouldn't run at highway speeds, and no cruise control, a/c, and started really hard yesterday morning. I was 100 miles from home, so I had to leave my car at the nearest chevy dealer in Howell, MI and I live in Grand Rapids. Sucks to be me, and out of warranty, and $85 tow bill......Darn AC Delco batteries....it will be out of there soon as I get it back, and going with a battery with gel, and leakproof. I can't wait to see the bill!

I knew there was a problem so I kept a real close eye on mine. None the less it caught me out for an Ice cream. Luckily just a few miles from the house. So my future son in-law came and got me took me to the house. Pulled a battery out of my Yukon and put in the vette to get it home. Luckily it had not been leaking long. Going to clean up and install something besides delco this time.
I try to keep an eye on mine too, it can happen really fast so be aware....it's finally over 70 degrees and I have a drop top vette sitting in the darn shop! :mad
I just replaced the AC in my 97 with the AGM model. Although, I have had two other AC batteries lose the positive battery posts in other vehicles it never happened in any of my Vettes.

It happened to me. Luckily I caught it early enough, although it still took me over 6 hours to clean up the mess. The battery went from not leaking at all to leaking like a champ in a 5 day period. Unless you pop your hood every other day, get an AGM battery so you won't have to deal with the mess.
Humm.... Mine didn't leak, but it just died after only 2yrs. I just had it replaced two weeks ago. I didn't check, but I'm hoping they put in the new type...
I guess I am pretty lucky....my delco is just over 5 years old now and strong as ever. I even let the car sit more than 3 weeks this month and started up mon with no signs of weakness
