the car is not perfectly level? Say, if the front is on ramps and the rear stays on the ground.

Doesn't make any difference to the brakes or the lines. If there's a big difference just use care when refilling the master cylinder.

Only reason to be level other than safety is fluid level in master cylinder...if you haven't done so may I suggest speed bleeders...worth every penny

Thanks for the advice on speedbleeders. I use the Motive pump and it's a super easy 1person job.
