Hypertech Power Programmer Shift points and rev limiter question??
I reprogrammed my shift points in my A4 with the HT PP III. I used the following settings 1-2 (+3mph) 2-3 (+6) 3-4 (+9) and I set the rev limiter at 6500RPM. Last night I got on the peddle and MAN what a difference. The only scary thing is that I got up to almost exactly 6000 RPM (before I let off) and the car had not shifted yet. I was at about 80-90 MPH so I am guessing it had to be the 3-4 shift. I love the way it feels but do not want to hurt anything. Any input would be appreciated. I have already emailed Hypertech, but am yet to get a response. :flag

I've played around with mine and have settled on 6300 rev limiter, and +2, 1-2 shift, and +4, 2-3 shift. Also running 100% shift firmness. It seemed like the car flattened out at higher rpm settings.Every car is different and I figure weakened valve springs can have a large effect on high rpm performance. I plan on adding LS6 valve springs and yella terra rockers to boost my high rpm power...
Re: Hypertech Power Programmer Shift points and rev limiter question?? (lost)
Ever have any problems with the Hypertech program? Do you consider the price of the programmer worth the modifications?
Just curious since I'm looking at the Hypertech, Predator, and Powerloader.
Thanks in advance

I couldn't increase my mph that much w/o hitting the rev limiter. I'm at +3 mph on the 1-2 shift and back to stock on the 2-3 and 3-4 shift. I've set my rev limiter at 6300 rpm's. This setting gives me the best ET (12.8) with my car and mods.

If your planning on any other mods besides intake and exhaust you should get the predator IMO

What mods do you have? With the shift points I mentioned above the car just felt like it kept pulling. I mean it was hard acceleration all the way to around 90MPH (then I let off the gas). I dont know what the times are because I dont drag and cant get a true 1/4 mile time, I just know it felt  I have heard that you can take the A4 rev limiter to 6500 safely so basically I am thinking that as long as I can keep it under 6500RPM before shifts it is okay. Any thoughts  Thanks
Re: Hypertech Power Programmer Shift points and rev limiter question?? (ccajun4real)
I wouldn't do it on stock valve springs, they are notorious for valve float above 6200. The ZO6 does it easily because they have stronger valve springs and a lighter valve train. Three bad things can happen, one bent push rods, two broken springs and three valve to piston contact...

So as long as I keep the rev limiter at 6200 and do not hit it during the accelaration process I am good right? Thanks for the input.
