Splintering of front leaf spring?
A buddy of mine has a late 98 vert and while having other work done the mechanic mentioned to him that his front spring (don't know the exact term) was splintering! This fiberglass spring runs left to right between the wheels under the engine. Is this common? Any one had any experience with this? My 98 looks fine.

It is not common, but it does happen from fatuige, abuse impact and several other causes. It can be replaced as good as new, but should be done soon, before it lets go.

It is more common then you might think. Happened on my C4 and I know several others who have had the problem. I replaced my C4 with an aftermarket from Vette springs.

Happened to me, so I replaced springs with Z06 units front and rear, added Hotchkis bars and Bilstein sports. Handles much better and not much harsher.g
