Default Bleeding Brakes question?

After bleeding the brakes on my car...should I have to bleed the ABS?

I have heard a couple of people have to do this, is it necessary?
Also what is the proper order to bleed the brakes?

Is it:
Passenger Rear
Driver Rear
Passenger Front
Driver Front

Doesn't matter if you are bleeding. If you intend to flush the entire system, it's probable best to start with the RR (most distant from the master) and rotate from there.

I think the latest service manual says RR, LF as they are paired together in the master cylinder, then LR, RF for the same reason. With a possable fluid loss you would have somewhat symetrical braking to a safe stop. I honestly do not think it really matters as long as you bleed the rears first. Good 'Luck :smash:

I heard that the process is different for post 98 cars. 98 and before is RR, LR,RF,LF (traditional), However for 99 and above they changed that to what is called out above? Maybe because the 98s and before did not have active handling??? I know I don't have it and have seen this in past posts. The only reason you would have to bleed the ABS is if you got air in it, or thought you did. I understand that, that should be done by a dealer?? I have done mine twice and several others and never had to bleed the ABS. If you open the line, like remove the Calipers, if you keep the line plugged and the master cyl full, you should not have a problem.

Unless you allow the reservoir to run dry, you will not need to bleed the ABS unit.

To bleed the ABS, you need an OBD-2 device (aka trip to the dealer for most of us)

:iagree: Also, install speed bleeders. Greatest things since sliced bread! :yesnod:
