I have a question with the active handling option. I believe my car has it because for one, the button is labeled "Active Handling" and I have the F45 and JL4 options (I think one of these is the active handling). The problem is the only messages I ever see on the DIC refer to traction control, it never says 'active handling' on or off.
Also, when I hold the button down for 5 seconds to try to enter the 'Competition Mode' all it does is display traction control on or off. Do I have a problem with my Active Handling system? I had bought the car with 13000 miles and have never seen an active handling message. I am frustrated and any suggestions would be appreciated.
The button turns the Active Handling on or off. The only other time that you will see any message is if it is on and you loose it in a corner or something in that vien. That's when it will react with throtle control and brakes to correct the situation. As for Competition Mode try holding it down for 10 to 15 seconds depending on what else your doing it can take longer to engage. Also earlier C5's didn't have competition mode I think it may have started in 2001.
Thanks for the info. Mine is a 99 but the owners manual did talk about the competition mode. However, I have tried holding the button for a long time and all kinds of different things and it doesn't seem to work so I guess maybe it doesn't have the competition mode.

All active handling systems have competition mode. You must be sitting still with the car running and hold the button down for about 15 seconds and it will shift into competition mode.
If you have a 1999 with the JL4 option, you have active handling.
To engage Competitive Driving mode, come to a complete stop, push and hold the AH button for at least seven seconds, you will see the mode come up on the DIC.
To see AH working, go to a large, wet parking lot and do some doughnuts. You'll see the indication on the DIC.
Went out yesterday and pushed AH at 30mph and immediately it turned off. I keep the button pushed for 5 to 10 seconds and Competition mode came on. I didn't have to stop to activate.

Ed,
The gentleman who started this thread has a '99 -- he has to come to a complete stop. Trust me.
Pewerted99,
Try seeing if Active handling has triped/stored any codes in your DIC. To do this hold the OPTIONS button down, while pressing the FUEL button 4 times. Any codes begining with H is histroy code. I believe Active handling starts with 28 TCS. Before you check for codes make sure your DIC is clear of any code ie (Low fuel, door ajar, change oil now) by pressing reset.
